The summer has continued to shine after a our wet spring. It was as if someone flipped on a switch on July 1st and announced "Summer is here!" And what a summer it has been.
Last night we motored out to the end of the jetty to catch a fabulous sunset followed twenty minutes later by a full moon rise. From our perspective, the moon came up directly behind the monument on stage island. This particular full moon in August is called the Sturgeon Moon. According to space.com and it was the most plentiful time to fish for sturgeon. Of course the sturgeon are now a protected species having been fished to near extinction for their eggs.
But from time to time, we'll see these prehistoric looking fish leaping out of the water. Their boney plates look out of place in this era, and they make quite a splash!
